Survivor Nicaragua
I can’t believe that this is the twenty-first series of this American-made “reality” programme. ((TV3, 8.30pm, Wednesday)  http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor/  The basic premise is this: 20 Americans are sent to a remote beach somewhere in the world, divided into two teams and set to compete for a large cash prize. The “survivor” is the one who manages to lie, cheat, manipulate, charm and persuade the others to the point where he or she is the last one remaining; the “survivor”. There are “games’, too, most of which involve mud or water. The winning team get to eat a meal, the losers go hungry.
This series is located in Nicaragua, so there are snakes. Nobody has been bitten yet, although I wouldn’t mind it if somebody was. So far, everybody seems to be either unpleasant or quite stupid or both.
So, if I dislike the programme so much, why am I watching it? Well, I could pretend that the rest of the family likes it, so I have to watch too. That wouldn’t really be true, though. The truth is that Survivor is fascinating, like watching a snake eat a mouse. It’s horrible but it sucks you in. I want to know who’s going to win.

What about you? Are you sucked in by Survivor? Or are there good qualities about the programme that I have missed? Let me know!
